Weight Lifting Equipment for a Great Back Workout at Home

Every time I’m with friends I always hear them say that going to the gym is difficult. This is because one has to drive all the way there and when you’re finished (and tired) you still have to drive back home. Some of them suggested it would be best to just workout at home.

Working out at home can be challenging because some parts of the body, like our back would need exercises that generally utilize big gym machines. We can however use weight lifting equipment such as free weights in place of a larger apparatus

Free Weights

Free weights are excellent exercise equipment for those who want to get fit within the confines of their own home and a good back workout is an important part of a well rounded program. Start off with an underhand grip rear lateral raise. This raise targets your rear shoulders and the upper back. With a pair of dumbbells and knees bent a little your feet need to be a shoulder width distance apart. Next bend at the hips but remember not to round your lower back until your torso is approximately parallel to the ground. The hand weights should be arm's length from the shoulders and the palms should face forward. Do not move your torso or bend the elbows, lift the arms straight out to the side until they're at the same height as your body. After that, carefully lower the weights to the starting point.

T- Stabilization exercises

To isolate your lower back, hips and abs, try T-stabilization exercises. Start with a push-up pose. Engage your core by contracting your tummy as much as you can. Keep your abs contracted for the duration of the exercise. The body has to be rigid and the arms straight. Transfer your weight onto your left arm then rotate the torso up and to the right till you face sideways. Hold the pose for 3 seconds. Lower back down to the starting position; then rotate to the other side (your right) and pause for 3 seconds again. Do this several times
